SPARKS, Nev., May 23, 2016 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has been awarded a $29 million contract modification by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD). The contract modification extends the period for procurement and support of the AN/PLT-5 Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED) system known as Thor II for a fifth year. Thor II is a man-packable (backpack) electronic countermeasure system.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Thor II was originally awarded in 2009 to support Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal (JSEOD) personnel. In 2015, the contract was modified to exercise year four. Thor II is part of the Counter RCIED Electronic Warfare (CREW) program and is just one of SNC’s electronic warfare and range instrumentation (EWR) solutions deployed worldwide in support of U.S. military contingents.
SNC’s EWR software definable systems support man-portable, vehicular, fixed-site and airborne applications. Collectively the SNC EWR architecture provides a solid foundation for networked, light-weight and industry-leading Size, Weight and Power EWR solutions.
